Assignment 7

1. What problems does the article mention that children run into when they use search engines?
The problems that the article mentions that children run into when they use search engines are that it can be difficult for children to get to answers of their questions that they're looking for. It is also difficult for users to formulate the right keywords to call up their desired results. It also mentions how it is difficult for adults to get to their answers so it puts children in even a harder position.

2. What suggestions have been offered for how search engines can improve their product to lessen children’s problems searching?
It mentions how there is a chat system that helps get children get to answers that they are looking for. Children are getting to levels of adults that is helping them get to information ever more easier. So search engines want it to be easy for easy for children just as they want it for adults.

3. Do you search using keywords or questions? How does the article characterize these two types of searching?
I search using the questions. The articles that pop out sometimes have nothing to do with what I was looking for. If I put the question in a shorter way, it helps sometimes by using keywords. Most of the time, I do find the answers to questions that I'm looking for. I believe it's a lot easier to put in the question to the search engine because I get less sources and it easier to find my answer to my question.
4. Have you tried using images or videos to search? How does the article characterize this type of searching?
No, I don't do that because I don't want to. It is very difficult and confusing to use it.
5. What advice would you give to Internet search engine developers (like Google or Bing) for how they should improve their product? Do you think any of the improvements mentioned in the article are particularly promising? Why?
I think the improvements mentioned in the article are particularly promising. They do need to make these search engines easy for adults as well as they should for children. I think Google and Bing should improve on getting the answers to long questions that we have so it can be a lot easier for us in our daily lives especially for school. Google and Bing are doing really good right now but technology is advancing more and more each day so they should too.
